Located off-grid, Russet House Farm relies on solar-voltaic energy production, aligning with our commitment to eco-friendly practices. Our one-acre intensive garden, cultivated entirely by hand, yields a bounty of organic fruits and vegetables that sustain our household, volunteers, and interns year-round.![]()

In addition to horticulture, our farm also engages in animal husbandry, including rare-breed Kerry cattle, pigs, horses, Muscovy ducks, and chickens. Through these diverse initiatives, Russet House Farm seeks to exemplify a holistic approach to sustainable living and environmental stewardship.![]()

Richard, Peter’s great grandfather, acquired this farm from Doriscroft, located just across the road, with the foresight that one of his sons would inherit a passion for farming. In the late 1920s, Peter’s grandparents, Fred and Mae, made the move to this farm. After Fred’s passing, Gerald and Bernadette assumed ownership in the early 1960s.![]()

In 1999, Peter and Carolyn decided to transition from city life and relocated to the farm to raise their family. Today, their children represent the fifth generation of Doris’ involved in the family farm. It brings us immense pride to uphold and carry forward this longstanding tradition of family farming.![]()
