Indigenous Dinner Fundraiser & Film

Join us for an evening of Haudenosaunee and Anishnaabe foods from local Indigenous growers.  Dinner will include a three-sisters soup, Haudenosaunee corn bread, a wild rice and wild game entree, strawberries and bannock, strawberry drink and cedar tea.  Dinner will be followed by a 45 minute film called “The Gift”, and also a short film about our Flint Corn Community Project that has been happening in Nogojiwanong over the last two years.  There will also be a silent auction boasting Indigenous made items from nearby Haudenosaunee and Anishnaabe communities.

Join us for a by donation community meal featuring campus grown foods followed by a climate change activities.

5th Annual Iron Chef Market Cook-Off Challenge

The Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market will host its fifth annual Iron Chef Market Cook-Off Challenge. Four local chefs will be given identical baskets full of fresh, seasonal fall produce, local meats & cheeses, and other market goods. They will also be given $10 worth of Nourish Market Dollars to select & purchase a ‘special ingredient’ from any market vendor.

At 10:30am, Chefs will be given 1.5 hours to create a seasonal dish on-site that will be sampled and rated by a panel of guest judges at 12pm.  One local Chef will be crowned the 5th Annual Market Iron Chef by creating an innovative dish that showcases local products, uses everything in the basket & is of course, delicious.

You Can Pickle That! Canning Workshop

Learn safe water bath canning techniques while working together to pickle seasonal crops . Participants will have the opportunity to learn both safe waterbath canning techniques and ideas for putting up seasonal bounty.
